In 2013, he earned his PhD from the Music Academy in Kraków, Poland.

Petersson has performed extensively across North America, Europe, and Asia, with appearances in Canada, the United States, China, Hong Kong, Macau, Taiwan, Sweden, Denmark, Poland, France, the Czech Republic, Germany, and Israel. He has appeared as a soloist with major orchestras, including the Buffalo Philharmonic, the National Czech Radio Orchestra, and the

Republic, and Canada, including a return to the Beethoven Festival in Teplice.

As a recording artist, he is known for championing rare and rediscovered repertoire. His discography includes piano concertos by Friedrich von Flotow with the Pilsen Philharmonic Orchestra and Leopold Godowsky’s Java Suite, both for Sterling Records. His 2015 recording of Percy Grainger’s arrangement of Grieg’s Piano Concerto, paired with Helge Evju’s concerto based on Grieg’s sketches, received international acclaim. Other releases include world premieres by Danish composers, a widely praised album of Burgmüller’s Études for Grand Piano, and two Beethoven albums for Naxos. His recent recordings, Reflections and Triptych for Solo Piano, feature works by Danish composer Lars A. Bisgaard, including music for solo piano, guitar, and string orchestra.

In addition to his international concert career, Petersson has held academic positions in Europe and China, and is frequently invited to adjudicate competitions and give masterclasses worldwide
