Jarred Dunn won first prize and concerto award at the 7th Lithuanian International Chopin Competition and is a prize winner of the 1st Jan Hoffman International Competition (Kraków). He won piano and chamber music prizes at the D. Vitti, Verona Zinetti, and Rome Premio International Competitions. He is described by critics as “evocative and mystical” (New York Classical Music), “a piano sound-colour magician” (Muzikos Barai), “performer with exquisite pedalling” (Ludwig van Toronto), and “technically perfect” (Belarus First Radio). His critically-acclaimed discography includes Chopin and Debussy (AFA 2019), Brahms in Solitude (Yamaha 2022), Chopin’s Diary: The Mazurkas (Lexicon 2024), and the complete H.M. Górecki piano solo and piano duo works, recorded alongside Górecki’s daughter, Anna Górecka. His recordings have been heard on CBC, Classical 96.3FM, WWFM, WQXR, 98.7 WVMO, Belarusian First, and Madison Freethought Radio/TV. CBC featured him on This is My MusicTop Thirty Under Thirty, and Five Things I Learned From Maria João-Pires.

 

Mr. Dunn performs at renowned concert halls including Yamaha Performance Centre, NOSPR Katowice, Dvorana Hall, Klavierhaus Göttingen, Warsaw Chopin Museum, Vilnius Town Hall, Cavatina Hall, Isabel Bader Centre, Owen Arts Center, Opéra de Bordeaux, Chapelle du Bon-Pasteur Montréal, Juilliard School, etc. As a chamber musician he has performed with violinist Anna Kuk as Duo Mirage, in piano duo with Maria João-Pires, ATMA Quartet, served as collaborative pianist for Brahms Summer Festival (Austria), and is artist-faculty at Semaine International Piano et Musique de Chambre (Switzerland). He has appeared as concerto soloist with Vilnius, Lithuanian Chamber, Toruń, Budapest Chamber, Belarusian Radio, NOSPR, Toronto Sinfonia, York, and Niagara Symphonies, and others. He judges in national and international competitions, most recently the Lithuanian Chopin International, Global Musical Arts, Canadian National, FCMF, and OMFA competitions.

 

Noted by Tonebase Piano as a “revered pedagogue,” Jarred Dunn gives masterclasses and workshops at The Juilliard School, SMU Meadows School of the Arts, Bydgoszcz Academy, Katowice Academy, Royal College of Music (London), Chetham’s School, and many pre-colleges/universities in North America, Europe, and Australia. He teaches at McGill University Schulich School of Music. His teachers include Andrei Gavrilov, Maria João-Pires, Katarzyna Popowa-Zydroń, Anna Górecka, Andrzej Jasiński, Dorothy Taubman, Jacob Lateiner and Yoheved Kaplinsky. He is on the Alumni Committee of Aspen Music Festival and School and is a Yamaha Artist.
